What is Vectorizer.dev?
Vectorizer.dev is a web studio that converts JPG and PNG images into scalable SVG vector graphics. The conversion engine runs entirely in the browser, produces gradient-aware output rather than flat posterization, and pairs it with cloud intelligence: Auto mode reads each image to tune the trace and write metadata, Reimagine redraws photos as flat vector art, and AI Studio generates vector art from text prompts.
Does Vectorizer.dev upload my images?
No. Conversion runs on your device — the image never leaves your machine, and the converter works offline once the page is loaded. The optional intelligence features send only a small downscaled thumbnail (never the original) and only when you use them; Auto mode can be switched off.
What does Auto mode do?
Auto mode reads a thumbnail of the image, classifies it (photo, illustration, logo, text, diagram, screenshot), sets the five tracing controls for that kind of image, and writes a title, alt text, description and tags. The trace re-runs with the tuned settings within a few seconds, and the metadata is embedded in the exported SVG as accessible title and description elements.
What makes the output different from other vectorizers?
Most converters posterize photos into flat color shapes. Vectorizer.dev's engine models each region as a live gradient with saliency-weighted edges, so photographs keep their depth and lighting. A fidelity score compares the traced SVG against the source, and output is standard SVG that opens in Illustrator, Figma, and Inkscape.
Can I see the Pro quality before I pay?
Yes. On any image, Preview Max detail traces the Pro preset at 1536 px and shows it next to your free result with a fidelity score for each. Only exporting that version requires Pro.
What's free, and what does Pro add?
Free: 3 conversions a day at up to 1024 px, Auto mode, the core presets, the Max detail preview, and 3 Studio or Reimagine generations a day — no account needed. Pro ($12/month or $96/year): unlimited conversions, 2048 px resolution, the Max detail preset with gradient meshes and 2× boundaries, batch conversion with ZIP export, 40 generations a day on the higher-quality engine, tenfold intelligence limits, PNG at 4×, and commercial use.
Can it convert many images at once?
Yes, on Pro. Drop several files into the Workspace and they queue as a batch; each converts with the same settings and the results download as one ZIP of SVGs.
Is the SVG editable and safe to use commercially?
Yes — it's clean, standard SVG with no watermark. Your rights to your own images stay yours; Pro includes commercial use of the converter's output in client and product work.
