Everything the studio can do.

Five minutes here covers the whole product — and the assistant in the corner answers anything this page doesn't.

Getting started

Open the Workspace and drop in a JPG or PNG (up to 20 MB) — or paste one, or click a sample. The engine traces it into SVG on your device within a few seconds and shows a before/after comparison you can sweep with the divider. Auto mode reads the image at the same time and re-traces with settings chosen for it. That's the whole loop: drop, look, tune if you like, export.

Good source material

Clear subjects with reasonable resolution (500 px+ on the short edge) trace best. Photographs, logos, illustrations, diagrams and UI screenshots all work — Auto mode recognises each kind and tunes for it.

Auto mode

Auto mode is on by default and can be switched off in the Intelligence panel (the choice is remembered on this browser). When an image loads, a downscaled thumbnail — never the original — is read in the cloud. One reading returns:

  • What the image is — photo, illustration, logo, text, diagram, screenshot — and its subject and style.
  • Tuned settings for Detail, Smoothing, Edge sharpness, Texture and Curve precision. The trace re-runs with them automatically; the Auto preset chip shows what was detected.
  • Metadata — a title, screen-reader alt text, a two-sentence description and tags. The title and alt are embedded in your exported SVG as accessible <title>/<desc> elements and the title names the file.

Move any slider afterwards and you're in Custom; click Auto to return to the reading. Readings are cached by content, so the same image reads instantly the next time.

The Workspace

  • Views. Compare (drag the divider), Vector, Source, and Code — the code view shows the actual SVG markup with a one-click copy.
  • Zoom & pan. Scroll to zoom up to 1200%, drag to pan, and use the fit button to reset. The vector stays crisp at any magnification — that's the point.
  • Presets. Auto, Balanced, Photo, Illustration, Poster, and the Pro-only Max detail. A preset is a starting position for the sliders; moving any slider switches you to Custom.
  • Live re-tracing. Every change re-traces automatically about half a second after you stop moving a slider. Re-traces of the same image don't count against a free day.
  • Paste and multi-drop. Ctrl/Cmd-V an image from the clipboard anywhere in the Workspace; drop several files to queue a batch (Pro).

Tuning reference

Five sliders project onto the engine's full parameter space. High values are not "better" — they trade file size and trace time for fidelity.

Fidelity & Pro preview

After every trace the Export panel shows a fidelity score: the SVG and the source are rasterized to the same small canvas on your device and compared pixel by pixel. 100 is identical; good photographic traces land in the low-to-mid 90s. It's a comparison number, not a grade — use it to see which direction a slider moves you.

Preview Max detail — free

On any image, the bar under the viewer traces the Pro preset (Max detail at 1536 px) and shows it in the same Compare view with its own fidelity score, so you can flip between your trace and the Pro result on your own file. Exporting that version needs Pro; looking never does.

Batch

Pro. Drop or pick several images at once: the first opens as usual and the rest queue in the Batch panel. Convert them with the current preset, sliders and resolution, then download one ZIP of SVGs (the open image is included). Free accounts see the queue offer and can upgrade in place.

Intelligence

Everything in the Intelligence panel works from a small downscaled thumbnail (or plain text) — never your original file — and only when you click.

  • Read this image runs the Auto-mode reading on demand when Auto mode is off.
  • Export pack produces a filename, SEO title and description, keywords, and a caption — ready to paste wherever the file is going.
  • Palette read extracts the dominant colors on-device, then names the palette and suggests where it works.
  • Reimagine redraws the photo as flat illustration, poster, line art or sticker art from the thumbnail, then loads the result as a new source and traces it on-device. It uses one of your daily generations and doesn't count as a conversion.

AI Studio

Studio runs the pipeline in reverse: describe a graphic, pick a style (logo mark, flat illustration, line art, sticker, poster, abstract). Your idea is refined into a vector-friendly prompt (shown, and reusable), an image is generated in the cloud, then the same on-device engine vectorizes it into editable SVG. Free plans include 3 generations a day, Pro 40 on a higher-quality engine. Generated work is yours.

Exports & formats

  • SVG — standard paths and gradients; opens in Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, and drops cleanly into codebases. With Auto mode, the file carries accessible title and description tags and is named after the reading.
  • PNG — rendered from the vector at 2× (free) or 4× (Pro) the source size.
  • Copy code — the raw SVG markup on your clipboard for inline embedding.
  • ZIP — Pro. Every converted image in the batch, plus the open one, as SVG files.

About file sizes

High Detail plus high Curve precision can produce SVGs larger than the source JPG — faithful geometry costs bytes. SVG gzips extremely well (60-75% smaller over the wire), or lower Detail / pick Poster for compact files.

Privacy & data

  • Conversion runs entirely in your browser. The image never uploads — it works offline once loaded.
  • Intelligence features send only a downscaled thumbnail (≤512 px) or your text, process it, and return the result. Originals never travel. Auto mode can be switched off.
  • Derived results (readings, export copy) are cached briefly by a content fingerprint so repeats are instant; usage limits are counted against a hashed, truncated network identifier.
  • Product analytics are anonymous events ("trace completed", "export") with no cookies and no personal data — enough to see which features earn their place, nothing more.
  • Billing is handled by the payment provider; we never see card numbers.

The blunt version: we couldn't look at your images if we wanted to. The conversion math runs on your hardware.

Troubleshooting

The trace looks too blobby

Raise Detail and Edge sharpness, or click Auto and let the reading set the sliders for you.

The SVG is huge

Lower Detail and Curve precision, raise Smoothing, or start from the Poster preset.

Nothing happens on upload

Check the file is a JPG or PNG under 20 MB. If it is, a hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-R) reloads the engine — it's a one-time download that your browser may have half-cached during a deploy.

Auto mode didn't run

The trace never waits for it — if the reading is unavailable or the day's allowance is used, you get the engine defaults and can tune by hand. Allowances reset at midnight UTC; Pro raises them tenfold.
